The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) New York Office, the Global Foundation for the Performing Arts (GFPA), Carnegie Hall, and the sponsoring Member States of Costa Rica, Ecuador, the Principality of Monaco, the Sultanate of Oman, and the Republic of Singapore, as well as the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, was held the topic named “Symphony of Solidarity: The same language” concert at Carnegie Hall.

The first United Nations concert was held at Carnegie Hall in New York on Human Rights Day 1949. According to its Charter, Article 1.4, the purpose of the United Nations is to be “a centre for harmonizing the actions of nations.”

This is a heartwarming global project that seeks to create a powerful connection between people and the United Nations mission by tapping into the unifying force of music.

The concert lasted for two and a half hours. Many ambassadors of the United Nations and the beautiful former president of the United Nations Book Association attended the concert. 

UNITAR, GFPA, and Carnegie Hall are dedicated to enhancing the mutually beneficial relationship between the arts and sustainable development capacity building at the United Nations. The United Nations continues to mobilize efforts targeting the peace and prosperity of the planet and its inhabitants. In these efforts, the arts are a transcultural tool through which to further such goals.
