The United Nations has expressed deep concern over the escalating conflict between Hizbullah and the Israel Defense Forces along the Blue Line, including the recent airstrike in Aitou, North Lebanon, which led to 23 civilian deaths. The Secretary-General condemns the loss of lives and calls on all parties to respect international law, especially regarding civilian protection.

The UN is also alarmed by ongoing clashes in southern Lebanon, where peacekeepers have been repeatedly attacked. The Secretary-General emphasizes that UNIFIL personnel must not be targeted, as such attacks violate international law and may constitute war crimes. The UN reiterates the call for an immediate ceasefire to safeguard civilians and peacekeepers alike.

In response to the humanitarian crisis, a 12-truck aid convoy has delivered essential supplies to southern Lebanon. The UN and partners continue to support the displaced population, with over 1.2 million people affected by the conflict. Humanitarian organizations are providing food, water, and shelter to those in need, both within Lebanon and at the border with Syria.

The UN stresses the importance of protecting civilians and ensuring humanitarian aid reaches those impacted by the crisis without obstruction.
